Welcome to Purrs And Howls!! A site committed to the well being of dogs and cats alike. Founded in 2017, Purrs and Howls started out as a print on demand (POD) online store. Soon afterwards, we began fostering rescued dogs and an occasional cat. I say we, but I mean my wife began fostering. What she knew is that I wouldn’t be able to help myself and fall love with every fur baby my wife brought home. So, ya!, I can consider myself a foster “by proxy”
Our Story:
As I mentioned earlier, Purrs and Howls started out as a simple print on demand shop. My intention was to make a few extra bucks each month. So, I continue to sell items on Amazon, Etsy, Redbubble to this day – and will continue in the future as well.
Around 2019, my wife decided to foster dogs. I certainly wasn’t for this decision at all. I thought that we would go bankrupt having to feed all of these strange dogs coming through our home. Plus, I was afraid that these “strays” would get into huge fights with our dogs. So far, there have been a few squabbles but nothing horrible. And, food is provided by the rescue group.
My wife was concerned that she wouldn’t be able to foster because I simply hated the idea all the way around. The rescue group we go through told my wife to try it out for a week or two and watch as I fell in love with the stray pooch. Guess what? That’s exactly what happened!
So, Why The Website?
Why did I create this website – purrsandhowlscom? To help other people understand the “ins-and-outs” of fostering. There seems to be a huge lack of knowledge about rescuing and fostering cats and dogs. We (my wife and I) believe that people, society as a whole, need to understand the painful truth about what is happening in our country. Dumping dogs and cats is an epidemic that is totally out of control. Especially, in the south. Illegal breeding. Dog fighting as a sport, Cruelty to animals as a whole are issues that also need to be addressed and stopped.
We truly need more people who want to foster, but don’t have a clue where to begin. Purrs and Howls will address most of the questions and concerns people have. Purrs and Howls will grow and change and evolve as the world around us changes. Ultimately our goal is to make Purrs and Howls THE go to resource site about dogs and cat fostering, training and learning.
